OK, time for a first post I guess. So I'm going to start with a little background information. My name is John and I am running an Ark server through my Xbox1 gamertag Valtorik1. The server is the reason most of you will be reading this, since I am forcing players to look at this blog to get the rules and keep up on information about the server.
Valtorik Kingdoms is about medieval community role play. Basically what this means is you make your village and others make theirs and don't cross each other without good in character reasons. I haven't seen too much role play yet, but then I think my idea of role play differs from most other players.
Onto the second reason I am making this blog post. Late last night we had our first rule breakers. It is obvious that they did not read the rules at all. A couple of players went and tamed a few dinos then proceeded to raid several of the other tribes in here while they were offline. I logged in this morning to a bunch of doors missing from my fortress, and upon looking at the tribe logs I saw my stego and turtle killed seven dinos from tribe of poltergeist.
I spent the next hour trying to find them, I located a raft and refining forge belonging to them easily enough, but their bodies were much harder to find. In the end I used the spectator cheat to locate them, removed their belongings, banned them from my server, destroyed all their dinos and structures, then sent them each messages to their gamertags before blocking those gamertags from my server account.
This is how I intend to deal with all rule breakers. I set the rules up to make my server fun for the majority of players. Nobody likes getting attacked while they are offline and unable to defend themselves, nobody on my server should have to worry about this happening. Offline raiding and griefing are my two biggest pet peeves gaming.
Lastly I made this first post to welcome those who have been joining my server and to explain one important thing about the upcoming Ragnarok update. I like playing Prim Plus. I love all the little extras you can add to make it a little more homey. I don't intend on switching my server over to Ragnarok unless it is Prim Plus. I understand they are working on it, but unless I have missed something they won't be releasing it as Prim Plus immediately.
I find this highly odd and annoying. If you are going to name a map after the end days of the Vikings, it should relate to the time they conquered their world in. I know I could just remove everything that requires a fabricator, but what does that leave us, and look at everything it will leave out.
